This church has felt like home since I first walked in the door. I am bringing my children here, they were all baptised here, my sister in law became a Catholic here... So many beautiful memories and occurrences within these sacred walls.
I've been a parishioner for well over 15 years. My daughter received her first communion here. Been a Roman Catholic all my life. This mass and Father Drew are not the same anymore. I agree with a prior post about money requests every Sunday. Also, when we renovated the church, there were to be more pews for seats. There are none!!! I have to get to mass at 4:30 . There are no seats available and people are standing. Now, I can't say I judge, but how can the entire congregation receive holy communion when there is no one at confession? Several years ago, I made a complaint also to the diocese about all the jokes made during the mass. It's just not appropriate. Father Drew does not even prepare his homilies either. Same stories, which are fine, but there is no connection from the litergy to our every day lives and how to live as a caring Christian. Just jokes, requests for money and no seats. I live down the street so I tell myself I will seek another parish, but I shouldn't have to. He needs to retire.
Worship our God truly .Feel like the true presence
Great place of worship especially the Divine Mercy chapel and learning for all ages with its Ave Maria Center and programs. Thanks and God bless this church always!
I have been attending this parish for over 20 years and I have seen the church double in size along with its congregation. However, at almost every mass homily there is a plea for money, the parishioners are more worried about sanitizing their hands right after giving the "peace be with you" making people feel dirty, and there are off duty police officers in church during mass carrying their firearms. What ever happened to church being a safe and sacred place. The main pastor is more concerned with raising money for his monstrosity he built across the street and only makes an effort with parishioners who fit." The spiritual church filled with genuine people it once was is gone.
The priests who serve here are just wonderful. Each member of staff or ministry is just bubbling up with joy at serving Christ. We love St. Laurence!
