Dr. Hsu has been my children's pediatrician since we moved here 5 years ago. I'm VERY picky about our medical care as I find most doctors are condescending and don't take the time to explain anything. Dr. Hsu ALWAYS explains what's going on. We never are rushed to get out of the office, but we don't sit in the waiting room long at all. He deals great with all of our children (who run a personality gauntlet) and always makes himself available if we need him. I have no idea how many patients he sees, but he always remembers my kids and talks TO them, not just at them. He asks them how they feel instead of just relying on me to know, which is great, because I might leave an important question out. He's been a fabulous doctor and I love the example he sets for my kids for what a proper doctor does: listen to his patients and communicate well.
As a registered nurse, I know a lot about good vs. bad doctors! We have had Dr. Hsu as our pediatrician since both my children (ages 9.5 & 8) were born. There is so much more to picking the "right doctor" than just, do you like him/her? His office and staff have always been there to help with anything we needed, like scheduling/follow-up visits/sick and well checks. Not only does the front staff always help, Dr. Hsu's genuine care for his patients always comes first. He never makes you feel rushed and actually spends the time to bond with each of my kids. My kids LOVE going to Dr. Hsu. How can any child actually say they LOVE going to the doctor? It's not because they get lollipops, its because they truly love seeing him! Not only would we never go anywhere else, we have since moved to Katy TX and we make the drive over to see him. It's worth every minute of the drive. This says a lot about a great physician. He has never mis-diagnosed or steered us away from what was best for our children. We've never regretted it for a second. We love Dr. Hsu!
Very great with babies, and a know edga blessed physician with excellent bedside manner. Convenient hours, and available by cell in case you have questions. Highly recommend.
Play it safe and go to Texas Children's down the street.
Practice is outdated. Sloppy medical records. Allows high school children to handle medical files. Keeps bad shot records. Gave my son the same set series of shots twice. Doesn't perform child development evaluations. Misdiagnosed our son with allergies. Had him on albuterol for months. Went and got a second opinion. Found out my son needed his tonsils and adenoids removed ASAP. So severe my son was losing oxygen to the brain while sleeping. My son is now a special needs child. After that we decided to leave Dr. Hsu. When our new peditrican requested our records, he contacted us and was very irate and hung up on us. Very unprofessional.
Dr Hsu was recommended to us by some friends who also take their child to him. We met with multiple doctors when picking a pediatrician, but ultimately decided to use Dr Hsu. Dr Hsu is great, he was at the hospital before the baby was born, and was also there the every day after. Dr Hsu is great with kids and always follows up with appointments. Many times when you call his office, he picks up the phone himself. When contacting parents, if Dr Hsu can't contact one parent he will call the other and even try the house too. I also love that Dr Hsu has Saturday and evening hours. I couldn't ask for a better pediatrician for my daughter.
