Today, I went for an emergency appointment with my OB and wound up instead having a miscarriage. While the reason of my visit was not good, the way I was cared for today by the MH employees and the ER staff was wonderful. Between my doctor and her nurse personally taking me to the ER with my deceased son, the chaplain taking care of my mom so that she stayed stable to meet me at the ER (Mom came with me), and them treating me kindly and allowing me to keep my baby long enough for me to disconnect from him gently, I have to say they were incredible. My doctors (OB and ER) checked over me thoroughly, the chaplain remained with us the entire way, and the nurses were comforting. I am aware I was a pretty calm patient all considered (I'm the kind that tends towards humor when beyond upset) and very cooperative.
Terrible experience. I injured my back doing heavy lifting, have a toddler at home and can't bend at all without nearly passing out. I can't take most medications because of breastfeeding. This doctor did not recommend any type of advice other than medication...he said nothing could help me at all. He didn't say to do specific stretches, physical therapy, heat, ice, chiropractor, massage, losing weight, eating better, nothing. He didn't even tell me the same diagnosis when I asked separate times. First he said it was inflammation, then he said it was a lumbar strain. He did nothing and gave me tylenol. Apparently this place is just a mediocre medication factory.
I also had two guardian angels looking out for me in the bathroom as my mother went for help. Those people were random passerby, but their help was invaluable, too.
This hospital does not even deserve a single star. I took my dad here at 4 am because he was in excruciating pain and these so called care givers did not even know how to properly assess his pain. They did not want to do any x-rays or scans to see what the issue was. They were extremely rude and unprofessional. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. Go ANYWHERE else but here. The night shift nurses and all had so much attitude. If you are not happy at your job then QUIT. There are so many other people waiting to take your job. Just because you don't like your job doesn't mean you can be lazy and risk another persons life. These nurses have no idea what they are doing. They put in high dose pain medication into my dad's IV in one big amount. He was knocked out cold within 10 seconds. These idiots could have costed me my family members life. This is not the end of it. I will be consulting my lawyers. Again, DO NOT TAKE YOUR FAMILY HERE. These people are unprofessional, rude, and in violation of their oath as nurses and doctors. Extremely disappointed in this hospital.
Person who is in charge of scheduling is neither helpful nor accommodating. My doctor refuses to fax orders to them because they always say they never received them. I called and was instructed to fax orders and wait for someone to call me back. There are only four things written on the order and she would not accept the information verbally. Fax number busy. Really???? I recommend choosing from the many other hospitals available in Houston.
Had to make a trip to the ER for my wife. I dropped her off at the door and before I could park and get through the doors they were already ready to lead her to the back. The CT scans were behind so we were there for a while but they gave her pain medicine to help make her comfortable and were all very nice and helpful.
