Wonderful scenery and memorial. People barbecuing. Canoes available for rent during my visit. Casual conversations. Dog friendly.
Great place for a pleasant walk if you appreciate natural scenery. I saw people grilling food. There are also kayaks for rent, but there are also signs saying that there are alligators here.
A fun and comfortable park. Nice walk around the lake and a good playground.
The trails here go around the memorial lake, through a wooded tree area, and around a small flatland. There are public bathrooms that are generally well maintained and there are drinking water fountains that have built in dog bowls for your loyal companions as well. Speaking of loyal companions, there is a dog park here too. It has an area for the little guys and am big area for the big guys. They get a pool and various training equipment. For us humans, there is a shaded area with benches. As for memorial park. There are two big covered picnic areas for events too.
The only thing that bothers me is the litter that people throw on the ground and how the city has made ordinances, but isn't enforcing them at all.
The natural beauty and sounds here are perfect for those who want to relax and get their mind off things. They recently added a monument to solute those veterans who gave their lives to help make America the American dream, and to help the general welfare. The trails encompass a great view of the lake and natural wildlife. The location is perfect for group parties and celebrations with a BBQ. The restrooms are also clean here. On the left side of the park is a dog park, and a large walking track surrounding a grass field, perfect for flying kites on windy days here. It is great to bike or bring your bike, to cycle and experience nature. The best trail that I would recommend to the daring or even not outgoing people is the Justin P. Brindley Trail, a trail that takes you to an exotic view of the Brazos River, and if your brave enough to go down to the river, you certainly can. The views are exciting, and the park even has large drop and goes back up, and you can certainly skate or ride your bike down there. It includes tires to climb and beams to balance on. You even get a good view of the Bullhead Slough emerging into the Brazos River.
